A man has been given oxygen after a chip pan went up in flames in his flat.
Crews in two fire engines were called to the blaze in Western Esplanade in Broadstairs at around 2pm.
They were alerted after black smoke was seen billowing from the ground floor flat.
Firefighters wearing breathing equipment put out the flames before removing the smouldering pan from the building.
They then used a fan to clear smoke and fumes, and used tools to cut away the damaged kitchen ceiling.
They left the scene at around 3pm.
