The driver of a car has been taken to hospital after hitting a lamppost this morning.

The man suffered injuries in the accident close to the QEQM Hospital in Margate at about 5.30am.

Police closed St Peter's Road in both directions between Broadley Road and Lister Road while the crash scene was cleared.

It was reopened shortly before 7am.

The injured man was taken the short distance to the QEQM for treatment.
