A man was taken to hospital with injuries to his face after a gang attacked him at a seaside shelter.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident in Marine Terrace, Margate, at about 10.30pm yesterday.
Detectives have arrested four men aged between 21 and 38 - who remain in custody - since the assault, which is being linked to a disturbance in the Promenade Brewers Fayre restaurant nearby.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to a report of an altercation in Marine Terrace and told that a man had been assaulted by a group at the shelter near the roundabout leading to the town's railway station.
"The victim was taken to hospital with facial injuries.
"We are also appealing to witnesses an earlier disturbance in and around the Promenade Brewers Fayre restaurant in Station Approach.
"That is being treated as potentially linked to the later assault."
Anyone who witnessed either incident, or who has dashcam or CCTV that may assist officers, is urged to call police on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 46/23988/23.
