A man recovering from a major knee operation is appealing for witnesses after his bike was taken from outside his flat.
After undergoing knee surgery three weeks ago, doctors advised Andrew Sinden to cycle to work.
But his Cube Peloton road bike disappeared after he left it in the hallway of a block of flats in St Mildred’s Road, Westgate, between 3.30pm and 9.30pm last Sunday.
He said: “The doctor told me the best source of exercise for my knee was to cycle to work and now I can’t do that.
“I’m appealing to see whether anyone has bought or been offered a second-hand red and blue Cube Peloton bike with a white seat in the last week. Hopefully, we can track down who took it.
“Brand new, the bike is worth £1,000 but I have had it a couple of years so it must be worth about £350 to £400.
“We have contacted police, and I’ve been looking on the internet to see if anything has been put up for sale.
“We live in a modern block of flats opposite Carlton Cinema, and although I thought the bike was safe there I guess I was too trustworthy.”
Inquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information can call police on 01843 222289, quoting reference ZY/29494/15.
