A man has been taken to hospital following a suspected stabbing at a park in Margate.

Several police officers and paramedics were reported at the scene in Dane Park, Park Road, at around 6am.

Police were originally responding to reports a man had been assaulted before he was later treated at hospital for an injury to his abdomen.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 5.56am today to Dane Park, Margate, to a report that a man had been assaulted.

"He is being treated in hospital for an injury to his abdomen.

"Inquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident are ongoing."
