Margate started life without Terry Yorath by drawing 0-0 against AFC Hornchurch in the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.

Yorath resigned as Margate manager on Thursday, leaving former Wales and Everton legend Neville Southall to take charge of team affairs for the game.

Lloyd Blackman had the best chance to break the deadlock, but he missed a penalty early in the second half after being brought down in the box.

Gate did have the ball in the back of the net midway through the second half when Ben Lewis headed in Wayne Wilson’s free-kick only for the goal to be ruled out for a foul.

Although Gate dominated possession, neither side was able to muster any other efforts on target.
