Margate put in a poor performance in front of their own fans in a 3-1 defeat to Horsham in the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday.
Gate had a Steve West header cleared off line and penalty appeal turned down, before Horsham took the lead after 30 minutes when a cross by Alex Haddow was saved by keeper Paul Nicholls but the ball fell to Pat Harding who scored.
Five minutes before the break Jack Haverson was adjudged to have fouled Jack Lyons and Haddow beat Nicholls from the spot.
The visitors added a third goal in the second half when a poor clearance by Nicholls was pushed back into the danger zone by Gary Charman and Harding smacked the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Gate netted a consolation with the best goal of game in the 87 minute when a good move was rounded off by Joe Healy curling the ball into top corner.
