Margate surrendered a two-goal half-time lead as they were beaten 3-2 by Hendon at Hartsdown Park on Saturday.
The hosts were 2-0 up and cruising at the break - but the game turned with the dismissal of Aaron Lacy just before the hour mark.
Margate went in front through Lloyd Blackman after just six minutes and Dan Stubbs doubled the lead on 25 minutes.
So dominant were the home side, it could have been 4-0 at half-time had Blackman not missed two more glorious chances.
But the game changed in the 58th minute when Lacy handballed on the goalline and was duly given his marching orders. Jamie Busby stepped up to convert the spot-kick.
The visitors drew level 13 minutes from time when a left-wing cross was bundled in from close range by James Bent.
And the comeback was completed on 88 minutes when an almost identical move ended with substitute Peter Dean, only on the pitch a matter of minutes, netting the winner.
