Margate let slip a two-goal lead against fellow Ryman League Premier Division side Sutton United in the FA Cup first qualifying round at Hartsdown Park on Saturday.
Gate suffered a blow on the half hour mark when defender Dan Young was forced off with a knee injury. But his replacement Sammy Cliff got the opening goal four minutes before the break.
It was 2-0 two minutes later when Sutton failed to clear Wayne Wilson's free-kick and Curtis Robinson slotted past keeper Kevin Scriven.
The comeback started on the stroke of half-time when Jason Goodlife netted from a corner that was controversially awarded because Sam Gargan's shot didn't appear to hit a Margate player on its way wide.
The equaliser came with just a minute left when Stefan Payne raced clear and scuffed a shot beyond Gate keeper Paul Nichols.
