Former WBU Champion Takaloo made a winning return to the ring in his first fight for almost four years on Saturday night.

The 35-year-old Margate ace - who is in the next Prizefighter line-up on September 15 - came through a four two-minute round warm-up bout at the Doncaster Dome on Saturday night - his first fight since January 2008.

Weighing-in at 11st 5lb the Iranian former welterweight and 11-stone champion (pictured) overcame 24-year-old Steve Spence of Scunthorpe 40-37 as scored byreferee Mark Lyson, fighting on the undercard of the Jamie McDonnell v Stuart Hall title clash.

Takaloo's Prizefighter rival and former Big Brother contestant JJ Bird also enjoyed a points win on the same card.

The pair will be among eight fighters battling for the £32,000 prize pot at the York Hall, Bethnall Green, in a event devised by promoter Barry Hearn and screened on Sky Sports.

The fighters compete in four nine-minute quarter-finals with the winners going on to sem-finals and a final, all on the same night.

Takaloo, known as the Margate Rock, was last in the ring in January 2008 where he lost the vacant Southern Area title bout against Anthony Small on a technical KO.

In 2000 he clinched the IBF Inter Continental light-middleweight title and ended Anthony Farnell’s 26-fight unbeaten streak with a one round KO to win the WBU crown.

He bounced back from being knocked down by Wayne Alexander in a one-punch KO in 2004 with a trio of wins but his career looked over after defeats to Michael Jennings in April 2007 and then Small.
