A much-loved ‘greasy spoon’ cafe has gone on the market - with estate agents saying its hours could be extended to offer “sunset dinners”.
Perched on the West Cliff at Ramsgate is the Lookout Cafe, for which the lease is on sale for £180,000.
Agents say it is an “extraordinary opportunity” to acquire a long-established cafe, which dates back decades, in an idyllic setting with no nearby opposition.
The cafe offers 40 covers outside and 20 inside and has a fully fitted commercial kitchen.
Currently a ‘greasy spoon’ renowned for its breakfasts and homemade rock cakes, it is a long-running family business which is popular year-round with locals as well as visitors.
But agents say there is potential for enhancing its culinary offer and extending its opening hours into the evenings for customers to enjoy “sunset dinners”.
The building is owned by Thanet District Council which is expected to offer it with a 10-year lease.
Oakwood Homes says: “This seafront cafe presents a rare investment opportunity to own your own business with immense potential for growth with a long lease available.
“The combination of a prime location, breathtaking views, and the possibility for strategic expansions makes this an enticing proposition for entrepreneurs and culinary enthusiasts alike.”
There could even be scope, the agents add, to further capitalise on the attractive location by hosting private events, gatherings, or themed evenings to attract a wider customer base.
