A new “hi-tech, low-cost” gym is set to open at a shopping centre with “combat stations” and olympic lifting platforms.
The new Just Fitness facility, run by the Bannatyne Group, will launch at Westwood Cross in Broadstairs.
Bosses say the 20,000sq ft site “will offer state-of-the-art equipment, high-energy fitness classes and professional fitness experts all under one roof”.
It will open this summer in the former home of DW Fitness, which closed in 2020 after the business went into administration, and will create 12 jobs.
Facilities at the new workout centre will include Olympic lifting platforms, a dedicated glute training area, three fully-equipped training pods and six combat stations.
The Bannatyne Group already operates a health club and spa in Westwood, Broadstairs, and existing members will have access to the new site as part of their membership package.
Group exercise classes, a group cycle room and virtual classes will also be available.
Duncan Bannatyne, chairman of the Bannatyne Group, said: “Just Fitness by Bannatyne Broadstairs will be a hi-tech, low cost gym.
“It will provide an alternative to our full service health club and spa at Westwood Farm and members at that site will be able to use the new Just Fitness gym as part of their membership.
“Broadstairs is growing, with more than 20,000 new homes planned. This investment demonstrates our confidence in the town and will provide a number of jobs for local people.”
Fran Donovan, centre manager at Westwood Cross, added: “We’re extremely excited to welcome Bannatyne to our community, and pleased to be able to provide a low-cost health and fitness offer for local residents and visitors.
“Our partnership with Bannatyne is an excellent opportunity to increase our leisure offer locally, and we’re looking forward to working with the team at Just Fitness.”
