A new paddleboarding school is offering Kent beachgoers the opportunity to enjoy sunset skies at sea - followed by a pint at the pub.
Ramsgate Main Sands' first ever paddleboarding concession is launching this month.
Located on the beach next to Coasters Café Bar, it will offer both beginners and those who are experienced the chance to try the popular watersport.
Paddleboards are available to hire for £15 an hour, including a lifejacket.
Lessons and small group-guided paddles will also be available, with a team of certified instructors.
Among group options are sunrise or sunset "safari paddles", which offer the chance for people to enjoy stunning sea views before enjoying breakfast at a local eatery or an evening drink in a nearby pub.
Dr Cheryl Mvula MBE, project manager of Active Ramsgate, says: “Stand-up paddleboarding has really soared in popularity over the last couple of years, and this new beach concession is a great opportunity to see Ramsgate from a different perspective, whether that’s hiring a paddleboard for an hour, taking lessons or enjoying a beautiful Ramsgate sunrise or sunset on a group safari.
“It’s a chance to relax and really be at one with the sea and nature – you’ll probably be accompanied by a seal or two too if you’re lucky!"
The school is being run by Kite Pirates Kite and Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) School, and will be open seven days a week when the sea is calm.
No booking is required for paddleboard rentals - simply turn up and book a spot.
A paddleboard safari can be booked on the Kite Pirates website or by phone, at a cost of £45 per person including all equipment and breakfast or a drink at a local pub.
Participants will need to have first completed Kite Pirates’ ‘ready to ride’ SUP session, or already be a competent paddleboarder.
For lessons, either book at the Kite Pirates outlet on the day or pre-book by calling 07739 369 531.
