It might sound like an April Fool but the story of how the former Ukip leader Nigel Farage succeeded in the fight for Brexit could be the subject of a six-part film.
While the real-life drama has the Hollywood hallmarks of a plucky outsider taking on the establishment, some may baulk at the idea of the ultimate Marmite politician being portrayed as a hero - but not the man himself.
Despite his connections with Kent, it is not yet known if the county with which Mr Farage is so strongly associated will feature in the re-telling of the biggest political event of recent years.
According to reports, a major Hollywood studio is preparing to invest £60m in a six-part series recounting the referendum campaign based on the best-selling diary "The Bad Boys of Brexit" by party donor Arron Banks.
Filming is said to be getting underway in the new year depending on a contract due to be signed next month. The story will be focused around Gerry Gunster, a US pollster who advised the Leave.EU campaign.
As to who will play Mr Farage, the man himself seems to think he could take on the role.
He told The Daily Telegraph: “I am hoping if they do make the film, I think I should play me. I am really good at being me. It will be about Brexit and the start of the revolution of 2016, how Brexit stunned the establishment and led to directly to the victory of Donald J Trump.”
But Hollywood studios may prefer someone with better credentials - although whether auditioning for the role of such a divisive figure is seen as a good career move is open to question.
