Coastguard officers have been praised for their work after the life of a "suicidal person was undoubtedly saved".
Police were rushed to Ramsgate following a report of a man missing from his home at about 3pm yesterday.
Members of the Coastguard joined the search shortly before 5.30pm, but after about an hour the man had not been found. A sighting, however, had been noted.
The man was located in Montefiore Park at about 7pm, and first aid was administered before ambulance crews arrived.
A spokesman for Margate Coastguard said: "Thankfully due to the expertise and professionalism of the Coastguard rescue officers, this person's life was undoubtedly saved and they hopefully will receive the help that they need.
"In a coastal emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
