The same movement that brought us the calendar girls has now come up with the can can girls!

Isobel Davis, Olive Lampert and Valerie Davis developed their dance routine for friends at Garlinge Women’s Institute, where it was the highlight of the recent monthly meeting in the village.

Isobel told Thanet Extra: “It’s all been a bit of fun. We originally performed the routine for a WI regional meeting recently but because tickets were limited, not all of our members were able to see it.

“We have no previous dancing experience but the performance in Garlinge came together at the last minute and the audience gave us a big cheer at the end.”

Showing true WI resourcefulness, the ladies’ costumes were made made of recycled materials - black bin bags.
