Teenage girl hit by car near Wellesley Haddon Dene School in Broadstairs

A teenage girl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car near a school on busy A-road.

The A255 Ramsgate Road in Broadstairs was closed in both directions between Gladstone Road and Bromstone Road, following the incident at about 6pm on Tuesday (December 17).

There were reports of heavy traffic in the area due to the accident, involved a car and a pedestrian near Wellesley Haddon Dene School.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called by South East Coast Ambulance Service at 6.02pm on Wednesday 18 December to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs.

“Officers attended the scene where the pedestrian, a teenage girl, was treated for injuries by paramedics. She was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.”

The girl’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Stagecoach’s Loop bus was temporarily unable to serve Broadstairs because of the disruption and was diverted via Bromstone Road, Fairfield Road and Broadstairs Road

The road had reopened by 7.40pm.
