A police helicopter was deployed above Ramsgate this afternoon to help locate a missing person.

Residents in the town reported seeing the aircraft hovering in the area for some time on Saturday afternoon.

A police spokesman confirmed it had been called into action to help search for someone.

They have since been found and the helicopter returned to base.
