Police hunt driver after suspected hit-and-run in Ramsgate

Police are hunting a driver suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run earlier this afternoon.

Officers and paramedics were called just before 1pm to Newington Road in Ramsgate following reports a person had been hit by a car.

Crews arrived and the pedestrian was treated at the road before being taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for further treatment.

The car understood to be involved in the incident was not at the scene when emergency services arrived.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “Inquiries to locate the driver are underway.

“Any witnesses who have yet to speak to police should call 01843 222289, quoting reference 19-0650.”
