Police hunt Queen's Korean Medal owner after seizing award in Ramsgate

Police are hunting for the owner of a medal after it was found in a suspected burglar's house.

The Queen's Korean Medal, given for participation in the Korean War, was found at a home on Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs yesterday.

Also seized during the 9.45pm raid was a West Point hat badge from the US Army's top training base.

The Korean War was fought between the Communist-backed forces of North Korea and the Us-backed South Koreans between 1950 and 1953.

The Ramsgate man - aged in his 40s - was arrested on suspicion of burglary, handling stolen goods and possession of drugs. He is currently in police custody.

Chief Inspector Ed Ruffle of Kent Police said: ‘We do not underestimate the sentimental value these items may hold and we are keen to reunite them with their rightful owner.’
