Police and ambulance near Lido in Margate over 'welfare concerns' for person along Fort Promenade

Part of a town's seafront has been taped off by police after concerns for a person's welfare were reported near a former open-air swimming pool.

Emergency services have been seen in Margate after they were called to help the person at 6.30am.

Witnesses have reported seeing a police cordon around the Lido complex but the incident is said to have taken place along Fort Promenade off Cliff Terrace in Cliftonville.

Paramedics were also on the scene but reports of a private ambulance also arriving have not been confirmed.

A police spokesman said: "Officers, along with SECAmb were called to Fort Promenade in Margate at about 6.30am today.

"This was following concerns for the welfare of a person."

It is understood there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
