With the festive period drawing closer, Westwood Cross shopping centre has announced its Christmas opening hours.

Whether you're searching for the perfect secret Santa gift or fancy soaking up the holiday season shopping atmosphere, the centre in Broadstairs will be open right up until the big day.

From Tuesday, December 17, Westwood Cross will be open from 9.30am until 8pm until Monday 23 - except for on Sunday 22 when hours will be from 10m until 4pm.

On Christmas Eve, the centre will welcoming shoppers hoping to bag a last minute bargain from 9.30am until 6pm.

It will be closed on Christmas Day.

Francesca Donovan, centre manager at Westwood Cross, said: "We are expecting to welcome thousands of shoppers over the Christmas season and our extended opening hours will make shopping for Christmas gifts even easier this year.

"We have also announced the return of our toy fort grotto, with its six-metre high turrets.

"Open from November 9 at midday, children can meet the Father Christmas and receive a special gift. It is recommended to book early, as the magical experience is expected to be extremely popular.”

Last month, it was announced 5ive will be joining kmfm on stage at the centre's lights switch on. The event will begin at 4pm on Friday, November 22, with the lights flicked on at 6pm.

On Boxing Day, the sales are expected to draw huge crowds between 10am and 5pm.

The centre will be open on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, from 9.30am until 6pm and from 10am until 5pm respectively.

Standard hours will resume from Tuesday, January 2.
