A Thanet woman who admitted trolling the mother of tragic Jamie Bulger has gone to hospital under a court order.
Chloe Cowan, of Chichester Road, Ramsgate, arrived at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday afternoon carrying a large purple suitcase.
Judge Adele Williams then made a Section 38 interim hospital order under the Mental Health Act for Cowan to be assessed by psychiatrists in Kent.
That followed two medical reports recommending further psychiatric investigations in a secure unit before a final decision is taken on what sentence should follow.
Her barrister, Andrew Espley, told the judge she had agreed to the assessment but was nervous about being in custody.
The judge said that special measures had been taken to ensure she was taken to the medical unit safely.
Cowan had pleaded guilty to harassing Denise Fergus with a series of vile messages on Twitter over of the murder of her son by two 10-year-old boys 22 years ago.
Until now Cowan - who wasn’t even born when the toddler was killed – had been staying with relatives near Reading.
Cowan was arrested after Mrs Fergus complained about “trolls” on Twitter blaming her for the death of Jamie in 1993.
The interim order is for 28 days after which she will return to court.
