The public has spoken - Al Murray's Pub Landlord would make a better Prime Minister than Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage.
That is the finding of a poll of more than 2,000 Brits, who say the outspoken Anglophile would be a better PM than most of the current leaders of major political parties.
The comedian, who is standing against Ukip's Nigel Farage for the Thanet South seat in May's general election, came second only to current PM David Cameron in the survey by PR agency Hotwire.
Asked who would make the best Prime Minister, 28.7% of respondents opted for Conservative leader David Cameron, and 26.3% chose Al Murray - who is standing for the Free United Kingdom Party (FUKP).
Labour's Ed Miliband bagged third place with 14.9%, Ukip's Nigel Farage gained 12.4% of the vote and Green Party leader Natalie Bennett took 10.5%.
Liberal Democrat leader and current Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg trailed way behind, taking a paltry 7.2% share of the vote.
Hotwire's head of public sector, Steven George-Hilley thinks the results show how disillusioned voters have become with mainstream politicians.
He said: "These findings underline the extent of voter apathy in Britain, with more people fancying the pub landlord as Prime Minister, instead of Ed Miliband.
"It is vital that the main political parties invest more time engaging with electorate to break down these barriers and restore trust in the political process."
Murray, 46, who announced he would stand in Kent as his alter ego last month, has pledged to reduce the price of beer to a penny a pint and get Kent County Council to take over Greece, saying that it would at least ensure the bins got emptied.
The Pub Landlord also promises to "make South Thanet the new capital of the UK," and set up a "demilitarised zone" between North and South Thanet.
