Dreamland Margate's Halloween festival Screamland opens to the public

Screamland is not one for the faint-hearted and visitors who dare to enter should be prepared for a jumpy and unnerving, but exciting experience.

The original pleasure park has turned into a festival of fear this Halloween with attractions which play on all the senses.

Designers AtmosFEAR! Scare Entertainment have combined a mixture of props, technical equipment and sinister scare actors guaranteeing visitors will be lost in their frightful mazes.

Rating five out of five on Dreamland's scare factor is The Final Cut where visitors will become the star of their own horror movie.

Those entering will travel back in time to an era of 1950s B-horror movies, all set in the dark space under the Dreamland Cinema.

Guests will be immersed into a black and white film, walking through settings that nightmares are made of and encountering unpleasant ghouls.

The attraction is wheelchair friendly and allows groups of six to eight guests at a time to provide a unique experience for each group.

After entering The Final Cut there is no turning back - visitors must make their way through Dead and Breakfast to eventually return to the normality of the park - which is filled with sideshows, characters and gruesomely themed food and drinks.

In Dead and Breakfast visitors will get lost in a maze of corridors with scare actors popping out from hidden corners and entrances before disappearing into the darkness.

Playing on tales of Margate from days gone by, the attraction takes you back to 1941 where World War 2 evacuees and their school master have been sent to Margate's Better Days guesthouse to avoid the horrors of the blitz.

The attraction includes face-to-face frights with ghosts in gas masks and leads to a thrilling finale in an Anderson shelter.

Festino's Forgotten Fun House is based on an old-fashioned travelling freak show by a crazed showman, echoing the site’s days as Hall By the Sea (prior to becoming Dreamland in 1919).

More than 60 professional actors trained in the art of scare acting and many recruited in Thanet are part of the entertainment.

A great deal of effort has been put in to Dreamland's Halloween nighttime festival - the mazes, special effects, obstacles, darkness, smoke, strobe lighting and live actors all make it a must visit for scare enthusiasts.
