A person trapped inside a car was rescued by fire crews after a serious crash.
St Mildred's Road in Westgate-on-Sea was shut while emergency services dealt with the collision, which involved two cars.
One person was taken to hospital with injuries.
Police, ambulance and fire services were called to the scene following the crash shortly before 4.30pm yesterday.
A fire service spokesperson said: "Two fire engines attended and crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to free a casualty trapped inside one of the vehicles, before handing her into the care of paramedics.
"One other woman involved in the crash was also looked after by paramedics."
A police spokesperson said they were called at about 4.20pm to the crash involving two cars.
"Officers attended the scene along with paramedics and fire crews," they said.
"The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident. One person was taken to a local hospital with injuries."
