Several seafront businesses have been targeted by would-be burglars in an overnight raid.
The cafes on Margate beach were damaged but the raiders failed to steal anything after the the break-ins in the early hours of this morning.
PoBoy, Pork and Co and the Juice Project - all on the Sun Deck on the town's waterfront - were left with smashed locks and windows.
Owners and managers arrived this morning to find the damage and are now warning other businesses in the town to remain vigilant.
Jodie Ellena-Lindley, who owns the Bus Cafe and manages the Sun Deck, says she is relieved nothing was taken and is questioning why police were not on patrol to deter criminals.
She said: "They didn't take anything as we have alarms but please be vigilant.
"Why are the police not out on patrol at night?
"Three police cars and six officers turned up this morning at 2am so there's clearly resources."
She advised other businesses and homeowners to make sure doors are locked and CCTV is working.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the damage and theft reports.
A spokesman said: "Police were called at 2.38pm on Friday, May 17 to a report of damage caused to the windows of two businesses.
"The theft of food was also reported at a pop-up business in the same area.
"Any witnesses can call police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/93621/19."
