A burglar was caught red-handed by police after running across rooftops clutching shopping bags of loot in each arm.
James Sansom was trying to make off with a games console, clothing and aftershave he stole from a home - after raiding a commercial property earlier the same day.
Police were called to the business at 8.20 on Monday, August 8, where officers, along with a police dog, made their way into the building, while others established a perimeter and watched the exits.
A report then came in of a robbery at a nearby home in Marine Drive in Margate, where Samson was spotted climbing through the window of the property and onto a roof.
Officers pursued the criminal on foot as he ran over roofs, his arms full of stolen goods.
The 42-year-old of Dalby Square, Margate, was swiftly caught, and on Wednesday, September 28, admitted two counts of burglary at Canterbury Crown Court.
He was handed a custodial sentence of two years and four months.
DS Neil Martin said: "James Sansom is a prolific burglar and went to extraordinary heights to evade capture.
"Unfortunately for him, the swift actions of attending officers working with CCTV operators meant there was nowhere for him to hide.
"As Sansom already had a suspended sentence through previous offending, he is now facing a longer time in prison."
