One works with numbers, the other in hospitality, yet a brother and sister have set up a unique sideline which sees them seek out spirits in some of Thanet's most haunted buildings.
They might not have given up their day jobs - yet - but Lynda and Mark Mills, with colleague Andy Ralph and Mark's wife Kelly, have proved quite a hit, selling out all their ghost-hunting events since they launched M&L Genuine Ghost Experiences.
The siblings are quite different from your typical ghost hunters, with Mark admitting it takes a lot to convince him of the presence of a spirit.
Lynda, a 'sensitive', meaning she apparently gets physical symptoms, such as a headache or nausea, when a ghost is near, also admits to being a little freaked in the past.
And Andy, their 'tech guy', insists he is evidence based and therefore uses hi-tech equipment looking at temperatures, sounds and visual recordings to prove there is a spirit around.
Lynda says she was always into ghosts, but when her uncle died when she was 15 she says her interest became something more.
She began experiencing unexplained spooky happenings, including hearing her dead relative whistling the Laurel and Hardy theme tune and feeling him sit down on her bed.
"I was on stage and a little girl's voice said 'hello' - there were no children there..."
"I'm not a medium, I can't get names or see spirits, but I can sense when something is there, it will affect me - I'll get a headache or feel sick," she said.
"I'm glad it's just that. I don't want to be waking up and seeing people at the end of my bed."
When she senses something, a medium is brought in to pick up on anything and Andy will use equipment to investigate.
"That's nice for me," said Lynda.
"When something is picked up by a medium, it's clarification for me. It means I'm not losing my marbles!
"I tend to keep quiet when a medium is there to see if they find something in the place that I sensed something."
Andy says they use all manner of equipment to measure temperature changes, record electronic voice phenomena, voice boxes which pick up white noise in which spirits can come through, and captures images. He also uses an EMF metre which picks up electrical magnetic forces.
"A prime example was an Manston Social Club," he said.
"I was setting up and everyone else was in the bar. It was about 9pm and I was on stage and a little girl's voice said 'hello' - there were no children there. It was quite spooky."
He says he has also got a photo of what he claims are two spirits looking at him in Deal Castle and another from St Augustine's near Westgate.
"I'm evidence-based so if I can debunk something I will," he added.
Mark says the events have taken off, with guests going into 'haunted' places to try to find ghosts with the trio.
"We started in the Northern Belle and now we're hiring venues like Deal Castle and St Augustine's," he said.
"We're not doing this for the money - we've not made a penny from it.
"It's just so nice to meet like-minded people - and sceptics as well. It's a big interest for us so we love it."
