A large sinkhole has opened up in a residential road.
Photos show gaping cracks in the Tarmac in the middle of Kings Avenue, Ramsgate, which has been closed while an investigation is carried out.
Council workers are at the scene.
One eyewitness said the hole is believed to be about 3m deep.
A photo taken by Kings Avenue resident Samantha Jane Butcher show a workman standing beside the hole, apparently measuring its depth.
A Kent County Council spokesperson said: “Highways officers have attended reports of carriageway subsidence in Kings Avenue, Ramsgate.
“The road has been closed while an investigation takes place to ascertain what repairs may be necessary.”
