Dazzling photos show Kent residents being treated to spectacular lit-up purple skies overnight.
Snappers across the county were out in force taking pictures of the phenomenon.
It follows a night of heavy thunderstorms and lightning across many parts of the county.
Both arrived following two days of temperatures hitting close to, and beyond, 30C.
The resultant moisture in the air, alongside water droplets, a setting sun, and low cloud cover played a part in creating a purple sky near coastlines.
Ramsgate’s Lauren Sky Rose took a picture near Spencer Square at around midnight.
She said: “I was watching the lightning storm just near where I live.
“It was quite eerie as you only heard a little bit of thunder at the beginning, and then it was silent with flashes going off every second at some points.
“Watching it on the lightning map, we were also seeing flashes from lightning happening as far away as Paris.”
Other homeowners said they spotted the phenomenon in Margate, Dungeness and Faversham.
Another person noted: “Was well cool to watch. I was watching out my window.”
