Spreading field fire destroys two hectares in Prestedge Avenue, Ramsgate

A fire in a field rapidly spread across two hectares in the early hours of the morning.

The flames took hold on land off Prestedge Avenue, Ramsgate, with four fire engines scrambled to fight back the flames at 2.59am.

Describing how crews remained on site for two hours, a Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used hose reel jets and wildfire equipment to extinguish the flames.

“There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.”
