A distraught cat owner says a rock star's dogs savaged her pet to death.
Libertines frontman Pete Doherty later turned up at Penny Ward's home to discuss what had happened but didn't apologise, she said.
Ms Ward, a retired nurse from Lewis Crescent, Cliftonville, told KentOnline: "There is no excuse for what happened. It could have been a child that was attacked. Those dogs should be muzzled."
Ms Ward, 70, said the singer's two Siberian huskies mauled eight-year-old Archie outside her home, shortly after 9am on Monday. They were not on leads and Doherty, who lives in Margate, had been there when it happened.
She had not witnessed the attack but had been told by neighbours about it.
Speaking today, she said: "The neighbours saw him and he was just standing there. The story made national newspapers but I have been too upset to read it.
"Yesterday he turned up at my home and said the press had been outside his house.
"He was with another man and was just making excuses about what happened but did not apologise. I don't know who the other man was but he did say sorry.
"Doherty said he also had two cats at home and he had put the dogs into a shelter since the attack.
Ms Ward also said Doherty should never have allowed "powerful and aggressive dogs" to be off a lead and said she "hoped he was a better singer than dog owner".
Police are investigating the incident.
A spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report at around 9.40am on Monday 12 November regarding a cat which had died after allegedly being attacked by dogs earlier in the day near Eastern Esplanade in Margate.
"Officers have spoken to all parties, and enquiries are ongoing."
Pete Doherty, 39, first achieved fame in the early 2000s with the Libertines and then the indie group Babyshambles.
The singer more recently moved to Margate with bandmates to set up the Albion Rooms studio and hotel on the town's Eastern Esplanade.
He hit the headlines again in August when he succeeded in a challenge to eat a giant breakfast in less than 20 minutes at the Dalby Cafe in Cliftonville.
He wolfed downs four eggs, four slices of bacon, four sausages, chips, hash browns, onion rings, bubble and squeak, beans, mushrooms, two slices of toast and tea.
KentOnline is making attempts to contact Doherty's management for comment.
