One Thanet Extra reader braved the elements during the big storm last week to grab this stunning shots.

John Smith, of Pike Lane, Ramsgate, rose at sunrise and drove to Broadstairs to capture some beach scenes before returning to Ramsgate to focus on the waves crashing against the sea wall.

John said: “I got up and drove from my home in Ramsgate to nearby Broadstairs in time for a fantastic sunrise.

“On my way home I stopped for a quick shot or two of Ramsgate’s sea wall getting tested by some huge waves.

“I think they are some of the best pictures I’ve ever taken.”
