Ramsgate Arson: man arrested after 12 vehicles set alight

A man has been arrested after a total of 12 vehicles were set on fire across Ramsgate in just a number of days.

The most recent attacks happened just last night, where fire crews rushed to five different roads to attend seven car fires.

Just three days prior, four other cars- three of them in the seaside town and the other in Broadstairs - were set alight.

After a review of CCTV footage, an 18-year-old man was stopped nearby at around 11.35pm yesterday.

He was arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Superintendent Emma Banks of Kent Police said: "There have been a number of suspicious vehicle fires in Thanet in recent weeks and our detectives are working to establish any potential links between them.

"We are continuing to investigate and would urge anyone with information or footage, either CCTV or dashcam, to please contact us by calling 01843 222289 quoting reference 11-1787.
