British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was stabbed in the back and stomach in broad daylight at Westgate-On-Sea train station.
Officers were called to the scene at around 4.30pm on Monday June 27 following reports of a fight between a group of people on the coastbound platform. During the altercation, a 19-year old from Herne Bay was stabbed in the front and back with a screwdriver.
Paramedics were called and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, where he currently remains in hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening at this stage.
Detective Sergeant Leigh Marshall, of British Transport Police said:
“We are continuing to conduct local enquiries into the incident to establish a full picture of the circumstances, including looking at what took place before, during and after the incident.
“Following the incident, three men and a woman were reported to have left the scene. We are working to establish their identities as we believe they could hold key information about what took place.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or knows the identity of those responsible, is asked to come forward and contact police in confidence.”
