A man has been arrested in Kent on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences.

The 31-year-old was detained in Margate today on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts.

Officers from the West Midlands counter terrorism unit travelled to the county to make the arrest.

They searched an address with the help of officers from the Kent force.

A spokesman said: "The arrest was pre-planned and intelligence-led; there was no immediate threat to public safety."
