A Thanet man - who has spent most of his life in jail - has been sent back inside for five years after he was convicted of carrying out two robberies on the same day.
Mark Moss, of no fixed address, had denied robbing Samuel Gallian and Olegs Manchos in Margate on May 31, 2013. He was convicted by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court.
Rosalind Earis, defending, said Moss had trained as a barber while in prison for a previous offence and on release found work in Thanet.
“That job opened his eyes to what it was like to not be involved in crime,” Miss Earis said. “But his hours were reduced because of problems with the business and his offending began again.
“These offences took place over 30 minutes on one day and it was the first time he had been involved in a robbery for 10 years. There were no injuries.”
Jailing Moss Judge Adele Williams told him: “You were convicted on clear and compelling evidence of two robberies. Both were caught on CCTV and you can be seen directing a group of youths.”
Moss, 27, was armed with a knife when he carried out the robberies and Judge Williams said it was clear that he targeted people who looked vulnerable in the street.
She added: “CCTV shows you and your group out of control in the street and behaving in an unruly way.”
Moss had previous convictions for violence, robbery and burglary.
“I have no doubt that you are a dangerous young man because you show no remorse and have no insight into your offending,” Judge Williams said.
