Kent County Council (KCC) have launched a public consultation after changes were made to the design of the proposed Thanet Parkway railway station.

It is the second round of talks KCC is having with residents to see what they think about proposals before a planning application is made later this year.

The council started taking submissions yesterday and lines will remain open until Sunday, March 19.

The updated plans show proposed road access from the A299 Hengist Way with additional pedestrian and cycle access via Cliffsend village and Cottington Road.

The station is designed to be unstaffed with two platforms, ticket vending machines and passenger help and information points which will offer remote assistance.

There will be step-free access from ground level to both platforms.

There will be space for up to 300 cars to park along with drop-off and pick-up points and bus stops where park and ride services will stop.

The station will be built on the existing rail line between Minster and Ramsgate.

KCC cabinet member for environment and transport Matthew Balfour said: "We are now looking to consult on the outline design of the station before submitting a planning application later in the year.

"This consultation provides the opportunity to update you on the progress made since the last consultation and gives you the chance to ask questions and tell us your views..." - Matthew Balfour

"This will hugely improve connectivity to London which is essential to unlocking development potential and attracting the investment and job opportunities for local people.

"Manston Business Park, Discovery Park Enterprise Zone and developments around Westwood Cross will benefit from being around an hour from London.

"This consultation provides the opportunity to update you on the progress made since the last consultation and gives you the chance to ask questions and tell us your views."

It is thought the new station will provide access to more employment opportunities in the new development and enterprise parks.

Public meetings will be held where copies of the plans will be available.

They will be at the following places:

• Cliffsend Village Hall, Foads Lane, Ramsgate on Tuesday, February 7, and Thursday, March 2, between 3pm and 8pm
• Discovery Park Enterprise Zone, Innovation House, Discovery Park on Wednesday, February 8th, between 10am and 5pm
• Acol Village Hall, The Street, Acol on Monday, February 20, between 3pm and 8pm
• Minster Library, Monkton Road, Minster, Ramsgate on Thursday, February 23, between 2pm and 5.30pm
• Ramsgate Railway Station on Tuesday, February 28, between 3pm and 7.30pm
