A Thanet family are the envy of motorists across the isle after
saving hundreds of pounds at the pumps.
The Endeans - dad Shaun, mum Sasha and son Tyler - have slashed
the amount they spend on petrol each year by nearly £400 after
taking part in a driving experiment.
The family, who live in Ramsgate, had their car kitted out with
the latest technology, which monitored their journeys over a six
week period.
They were then put through their paces at a track day, during
which they discovered how keeping their tyres at the right
pressure, removing excess weight and keeping a constant speed can
greatly reduce fuel consumption.
Shaun and Sasha also went back to school for a lesson aimed at
improving driving efficiency.
They managed to reduce the number of litres of fuel they used by
more than a third - saving £390 on their annual fuel bill.
David Wood from Shell, which organised the Smarter Drivers
experiment, said: "We want to help drivers and families get the
most out of every drop and ultimately save money.
"The Endean family has shown that even small improvements to
your driving technique can make a great difference to fuel
efficiency and ultimately lead to real cost savings."
