Rock group The Libertines have released their much-anticipated new song, after shooting the music video in Margate.
The band- which has deep roots in the seaside town- have dropped single Run, Run, Run, after teasing the video earlier this week.
The foursome, which is fronted by Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, have deep roots in the seaside town and can be spotted outside The Albion Rooms, a hotel and studio which they own, in the short clip.
The group also announced today their latest album, All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, is now available for pre-order on March 8 2024 and they will be performing in Margate.
“We’re also heading to the sacred lands of Margate for some very special live shows this December, head to the site now and pre-order the album for exclusive pre-sale access to the shows,” the group posted online.
On Wednesday, The Libertines shared a brief montage of them filming new material, as well as classic polaroids of the foursome, on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Today’s release marks their first material since 2015 when the indie stars released Anthems for Doomed Youth.
Doherty now lives in France, but was previously a Margate local, completing the Cliftonville Dalby Café’s breakfast challenge in 2018.
In a Margate version of Man V Food, the Time for Heroes singer scoffed four eggs, four bacon, four sausages, chips, hash browns, onion rings, bubble, beans, mushrooms, two slices of toast and tea.
Barat is still heavily involved in the town, opening nightclub Justine’s in Marine Gardens earlier this year.
He also headlined a charity gig for The Margate School, when the arts education centre faced closure.
Margate is known for attracting celebrities, with Hollywood couple Rami Malek and Emma Corrin recently enjoying a date at seafood bar Buoy and Oyster on the town’s High Street.
Other famous faces who have visited include Game of Thrones star , Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Tommy Lenk and Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall.
