A Thanet bully who attacked a former partner has been told by a female judge: “Women are not punch bags.”
Oliver Philpott had admitted attacking his ex three times in three months.
Judge Heather Norton has now jailed the former drug addict for a year, telling him: “There is no excuse for treating women in the way you did. She was beaten to a pulp. You remain a risk to women.”
Canterbury Crown Court heard how Philpott, of Marlowe Road, Dane Valley in Margate, had hit his former partner on a number of occasions. He would then apologise and she would take him back.
In September last year the victim was seen in a car but Philpott dragged her out by her hair and pulled her down the road.
Prosecutor Bridget Todd said the woman managed to get away but Philpott caught up with her, before pushing her down and she smashed her head on the steps.
He then bit her face hard before running away and when the 20-year-old victim returned home she found it trashed.

Ms Todd said the victim’s clothes had been put in the toilet and nail varnish had been smeared on the floor and walls.
And a week later he grabbed her by the throat, lifting her off the floor before throwing more punches and knocking her out.
The woman then fled her father’s home and changed the locks but Philpott got in again and started punching.
He then told his battered ex: “Look what you’ve made me do” before spitting on her.
After jailing the bully, Judge Norton issued a five-year order banning him from going anywhere near the victim.
A charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice by offering his victim money to drop the case was left on the file after Philpott had denied the offence.
