A man who repeatedly smashed a broken bottle into his victim's face and head in a vicious attack in Ramsgate has been jailed for 15 years.
Just weeks after this assault, Mark Wood punched another victim in the face so hard that the man lost two front teeth, Canterbury Crown Court heard.
Jailing Wood, Judge James O’Mahony said: "You are indeed a dangerous man."
Wood, 28, of Cornhill, Ramsgate, was convicted of wounding with intent by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court. The attack took place in September 2012.
Judge O’Mahony told him: "It was, in many ways, a trial where almost all the evidence unfolded in front of us in court by CCTV footage.
"We saw the victim sitting on steps outside the Albion Café, alone, with his back to the road minding his own business.
"You armed yourself with a broken bottle and, in a sustained attack, repeatedly smashed the bottle in his head and face.
"It was a most cowardly and vicious attack and the sight of it on CCTV drew gasps of astonishment from the jury. It shocked me as well."
In November 2012, Wood, who had previous convictions for assault, carried out a drugs-related attack in which his victim lost two front teeth.
Judge O’Mahony said the victim in the bottle attack received gaping wounds, one near his right eye, and would be permanently scarred.
"This was a sustained assault with a very nasty weapon," he told Wood. "You are indeed dangerous."
In addition to the jail sentence, the judge ordered Wood to be on an extended four-year licence after his release.
