Two Thanet men hacked and slashed their victim with a knife and a meat cleaver - over a £50 drugs debt.
Thugs Connor Williams, 21, and pal Joe Philpott, 19, carried out their "frenzied and persistent" attack at a flat on the Millmead Estate in Margate.
They stabbed him in the face, head, neck, wrists, fists and arms, leaving him for dead, soaked in blood and needing treatment at a London Hospital for wounds and a broken collar.
Now Williams, of Canterbury Road has been jailed for nine years and Philpott, of Surrey Road, both Margate, sent to a young offenders' institute for eight years and three months after they admitted wounding with intent.
Judge Adele Williams told them: "This was truly a terrifying attack which was persistent and frenzied.
"Your victim thought he was going to die. You left him bleeding profusely.
"This was all over a decision by you two to enforce a drugs debt. You took the law into your own hands and this was lawlessness."
Canterbury Crown Court heard how the victim had gone to the flat in Appledore Close in Margate, where it was claimed he was given a gram of cocaine, worth £50.
During December last year and January 2016 he was confronted by Williams and Philpott on several occasions, demanding payment.
On January 3 the two arrived shouting for the victim to open the door, with Williams screaming: “Open the f****** door. I'm going to f****** do you if you don’t open up.”
Williams was holding a knife with a 12 inch blade and Philpott was wielding a meat cleaver, the court heard.
The judge was told how Williams then shouted: “I’m going to jook you up, bruv, if I don’t get the money.”
As the victim cowered away from the armed thugs, they launched their ferocious hacking and slashing attack.
After leaving him in a pool of blood the two walked away and the victim staggered upstairs and alerted a neighbour, who later told the police: “I will never forget the sight of him”.
The victim was taken to Kings College in London and underwent surgery, but has since recovered.
The judge told them they had showed no care for him, adding: "You were determined during this attack to punish him for his perceived failure to pay a drugs debt."
