Residents were shocked to discover a little boy wandering the streets alone.

The youngster, understood to be about two or three years old, was reportedly seen wearing only his nappy as he walked around Newington, Ramsgate.

A couple spotted the toddler near the Rising Sun Cafe in Newington Road.

Police were called to the scene on Saturday morning and carried out a door-knock of the area to help find the little boy's home.

The mother of the child was found and reunited with her son.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Kent Police was called to Newington Road, Ramsgate at 8.10am on Saturday following a report that an unaccompanied child had been seen in the area.

"Officers attended and the child’s mother was located nearby."
