Floral tributes and toys have been left outside a house in Margate following the suspected murders of two children.
The toddlers were found by police at the end-of-terrace home in Castle Drive at 3.35am yesterday after concerns were raised about their welfare.
They were taken to hospital, where they were later declared dead.
Just 45 minutes before the discovery a woman was involved in a crash on the A299 Thanet Way between Herne Bay and Whitstable.
Her Ford Galaxy had collided with a lorry on the London-bound carriageway near Chestfield.
She was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital with a minor head injury and arrested on suspicion of murder.
Following her discharge from hospital shortly after 2pm, she was taken into custody at an unnamed police station, where it is believed she remains.
Detectives can hold her for questioning for 24 hours from the point of her arrival at the station before they would need an officer - of the rank of Superintendent or above - to sanction a 12-hour extension.
Should 36 hours pass, a warrant must be sought from a magistrates’ court for further detention of up to 36 hours.
The woman, who is 37 and from Margate, cannot be held without charge for a period of more than 96 hours.
While she is being questioned, police remain at the scene of the suspected murders today.
Cuddly toys and flowers were this afternoon placed outside the property, which sits on a new-build estate in Westwood, on the outskirts of Margate.
The ages and genders of the children have yet to be released by police, but neighbours this morning said they are twins of toddler age.
It is believed they only moved into the house a month ago.
