A woman trapped on a balcony has been taken to hospital after a house blaze in Ramsgate.

She was rescued after police were called to Warre Avenue, Ramsgate at 7.40pm last night.

Fire and ambulance crews crews helped officers in the rescue.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 7.40pm to a report of a person trapped on a balcony due to a house fire.

"Officers attended along with Secamb and Kent Fire and Rescue Service and one person has been taken to a local hospital to be treated as a precaution."
