British Transport Police arrest two in Ramsgate after being called to ‘mass brawl’ which turned out to be robbery

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after British Transport Police (BTP) officers were dispatched to a coastal town following reports of a fight involving eight people.

Officers were carrying out an area search in Ramsgate and while they grabbed a quick coffee, two suspects walked in.

After quick inquiries to make sure it was them from CCTV images obtained, the pair were arrested.

BTP tweeted about three units being on route to the town following reports of a fight involving eight people, but later tweeted it turned out to be a robbery.

“We have managed to safeguard a young victim of crime,” bosses tweeted.

“We completed an area search but unfortunately we have been unable to locate the suspects at this time. All relevant enquires and CCTV have been obtained.”

But later, the two were arrested as officers grabbed their coffee.

BTP has been contacted for further comment.
