After losing overall control of Thanet council on Wednesday, Ukip are set to lose a second councillor this week as Vince Munday leaves Ramsgate to 'go walk about'.
His home in Haine Road has been sold and he has walked away from his fast food company to move with his wife Fa to Thailand.
Mr Munday's departure follows the resignation of Jeff Elenor who joined the Democratic Independent Party on Wednesday over the ongoing Manston airport saga.
The Newington ward representative's resignation has not yet been confirmed by the party but it will mean that Ukip will drop to 27 Thanet councillors - six less than they had elected in May.
On his Facebook page on Thursday morning Mr Munday explained there were personal reasons behind his decision.
He said: "Last day in my home, everything has pretty much gone, it's quite scary, I've never not owned a home before.
"My mum passing away has had such a huge influence on my life which is heading at a complete tangent to how it was before and although it is scary it's also quite exciting to go walk about as my dad would have said.
"Am I doing the right thing? Time will tell, I've walked away from a successful business, sold my house and everything is now in the lap of the Gods, wish me luck..."
Mr Munday was owner of mobile caterers Conleigh Fast Foods.
He was also at the centre of controversy last year when Ukip leader Nigel Farage apologised in person to him and his wife following an interview with BBC South East where former Ukip MEP Janice Atkinson referred to Mr Munday’s wife as “a ting tong from somewhere”.
