People across the country will be flying the flag for the Coronation this weekend – but surely not many will be doing it like this.
Baffled residents in Margate have spotted several piles of dog poo across the town which have Union Flags stuck on them.
Stacey Kember spotted one and said she laughed so loudly when she saw it.
“Great to be British,” she commented when sharing the pictures on Facebook.
She told KentOnline: "I was with my son Grayson and we laughed and I said at least we won’t step in it.
"Grayson said it was a bit strange and laughed. I suppose someone has done it to make people aware how many people don’t pick up their dog's poo."
After posting a photo of two different poos she had seen with small flags in, several other residents also commented that they had seen them.
The culprit has already been dubbed “the poo flagger”.
“I found one too, it is like a treasure hunt,” one person said.
“I saw one the other day too down Union Row in Margate, got lots of funny stares for walking along laughing my head off,” another commented.
Andrew Morton also spotted one by the job centre in Margate on Sunday.
He said he took a picture as he thought it would amuse his son.
“It does seem they’re popping up all over the place!
“I only took the picture as I know it would amuse my son, however I’m not sure I would want to get close enough to stick a flag in it!
“It is either someone who fancies themselves as a bit of a Banksy, what with all the recent attention he’s brought to the area, or someone maybe bringing attention to all the dog mess left behind from owners who can’t be bothered to clear up after their dogs.”
Billie Rachel also saw a dog poo with a flag in Grosvenor Place.
She said: “My daughter noticed it first, and when I saw it I laughed and said that's typical Margate.”
Others have said they have also seen them in Ramsgate.
